20 cumbrian mums joined forces and created a unique calendar to support jaxon currie, a seven year old boy from carlisle who has a rare hypothalamic hamartoma brain tumour. the mums braved the elements and stripped down to their underwear in a number of beautiful locations around cumbria to create images depicting a mother’s work, a mother’s love and her day-to-day challenges, with one of jaxon’s teddy bears featuring in every shot. one mother was captured vacuuming on a derwentwater jetty, while another was hanging washing on top of a lake district fel l. the imagery is a celebration of love, family, kindness and strength and makes the most of cumbria’s stunning landscape. a s well as raising awareness of jaxon’s rare condition, the calendar and some other gift items raised £11,188.68! this will allow jaxon and his family to enjoy some lovely experiences and create memories to cherish. day to day life can be a struggle for the currie family and the calendar is a symbol for them of the love, kindness, strength and humour that surrounds them within their community. the scenes were shot over a number of days as each mum (including the photographer) had to juggle work and family and all 20 mothers pulled together to make the shoot possible, helping each other with everything from collecting from school and feeding their collaborators’ children, to bathing them and getting them ready for bed. whilst the calendars are now all sold out a ny donations, of course are all gratefully received. for any other queries please contact [email protected] a special thank you also to the number of venues who sold the calendars including roseberry floral design in dalston, nicolls dental practice in penrith, wcf carlisle, tourist information in carlisle’s old town hall and arragon’s cycles in penrith. for further information on hypothalamic hamartoma there is a facebook page called hope for hypothalamic hamartoma . click here to see us in the news
